Lemon & Dark Chocolate Truffles

These Lemon Dark Chocolate Truffles are rich, smooth, intensely chocolatey, and finished with a bright burst of fresh lemon. If you’re a fan of the classic combination of citrus and chocolate, these easy no-bake truffles are about to become your new favourite homemade treat.

Made with a silky dark chocolate ganache infused with fresh lemon zest, these truffles strike the perfect balance between rich and refreshing. The deep, slightly bitter notes of dark chocolate pair beautifully with the vibrant citrus flavour, creating a sophisticated dessert that feels both indulgent and light.

Chocolate truffles are believed to have been invented in France in the 1920s, named after a luxurious and rare fungus due to their resemblance. The traditional French truffle is made with a simple ganache center, rolled in cocoa powder to give it an earthy look akin to the original truffle. Over time, truffles have evolved with various flavors and coatings to suit different palates.

Whether you’re making them for a holiday platter, edible gifts, afternoon tea, or simply to satisfy a chocolate craving, these homemade chocolate truffles come together with just a handful of ingredients and require no baking at all.

Tips for the Best Homemade Chocolate Truffles

  • Use high-quality dark chocolate for the best flavour.
  • Finely grate the lemon zest to distribute the citrus flavour evenly.
  • Chill the ganache thoroughly before rolling.
  • Roll quickly to prevent the chocolate from melting in your hands.
  • Coat immediately after shaping for the best finish.
