A no-bake, rich, and crunchy Chocolate Salami I first loved in Portugal. Perfect for chocolate lovers and impressively easy to make at home!

If you’re a true chocolate lover, this one’s for you. Chocolate Salame, or Salame de Chocolate, is a decadent, no-bake dessert that looks exactly like a meat salami — but it’s pure chocolate bliss inside!
I first tried this unforgettable treat in Portugal, and I was instantly hooked. The combination of rich chocolate, crunchy biscuit pieces, and that beautiful marbled look made it an instant favourite. It’s now one of my go-to no-fuss desserts that impresses every single time. Its a true celebration of chocolate in its most playful form. Every bite is a mix of silky, melt-in-the-mouth chocolate and crunchy, buttery biscuit — a texture and flavor combo that’s utterly addictive. After falling in love with it in Portugal, I knew I had to recreate it at home. And trust me, it’s every bit as good as I remembered!

Where Did Chocolate Salami Come From?
Chocolate Salami is believed to have originated in Italy and Portugal. In Portugal, you’ll often spot it in pastry shops and markets during festive seasons. It cleverly mimics a traditional meat salami, which is how it gets its playful name. But make no mistake — this “salame” is all about chocolatey indulgence.
Why You’ll Fall in Love with this Recipe
- Decadent and rich: The deep chocolate flavour is pure heaven for any chocoholic. Yum yum!
- Dreamy texture: Each slice is creamy yet dotted with crunchy biscuit chunks, giving you a wonderful contrast.
- No baking needed: Just mix, shape, chill, and enjoy. Super quick.
- Eye-catching and fun: Looks like salami but tastes like dessert!
Tips for the Perfect Chocolate Salami
- Use the best quality Dutch-processed cocoa you can find — it makes a big difference in that deep, luxurious flavour. You can also use regular unsweetened cocoa powder.
- Break your biscuits roughly rather than crushing them into crumbs to get the perfect mix of textures.
- Let it chill completely so you get clean, beautiful slices every time.

Storing Your Chocolate Salami
Keep it wrapped and refrigerated for up to 10 days — if it lasts that long! 😉 You can also freeze it for up to 2 months. Simply thaw in the fridge before serving.

Ingredients
100 g butter, softened
100 g granulated sugar
1 whole egg
180 g marie biscuits, broken into uneven pieces
150 g chocolate powder (50 g Cocoa powder+60 g milk powder+50 g powdered sugar)

Directions
- In a bowl, beat softened butter with granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

- Transfer the mixture onto aluminium foil or cling wrap and shape it into a firm log.
- Wrap tightly and refrigerate for at least 4–5 hours or overnight until set and sliceable.
- Dust with powdered sugar if you like, slice into rounds, and get ready to wow your guests!
